Winter's coming....wear a cowl

  The Cait Cowl -age 2-4

MATERIALS
2 balls of worstest weight/aran yarn(I had 90g left)
1 ball of 50g faux fur(I prefer James c Brett faux fur or wendy Arctic faux fur
5mm hook
Yarn needle

INSTRUCTIONS

Diagonal spike stitch = DC in next 3 stitches,DC in same stitch as 1st DC of the 3 just made

Chain 40


ROW 1: DC in 4th chain from hook and next 2 stitches.DC in 1st DC made(1st diagonal spike stitch made). *skip a chain, diagonal spike stitch* repeat until last 2 chains. miss a chain and DC in last chain. chain 3 and turn.


ROW 2: diagonal spike stitch starting with 2nd stitch of row(the stitch after the stitch that is directly below chain). *skip a stitch,diagonal spike stitch* repeat until last 2 stitches. miss a stitch and DC in last stitch.chain3 and turn.


REPEAT ROW 2 UNTIL 51CM LONG


When finish last row,do not fasten off. fold piece of work length ways so foundation row and last row are together.starting with corner you are at slipstitch the 2 layers until reach the fold.fasten off and weave in ends.


Turn piece inside out so seam is on inside.


The seam is the back of the hood,the fold is the top of the hood. where the lower front of the hood is there are 2 corners of the short end of piece. over lap these at corners and attach yarn through both layers.


ROUND 1: chain 3,DC evenly around in every space available. if the hood seems to buckle not staying inline with hood do it with dcs in sts as well as spaces. DC in top of the chain 3


ROUND 2 - 6: As with hood *spike stitch, skip a stitch* around DO NOT JOIN


ROUND 7: CHOICES:


You can either slip stitch in next 2 stitches and fasten off, and then attach fur and do a DC round. OR do 2 plain DC rounds and then slip stitch in next 2 stitches OR do 2 rounds of shell stitches and fasten off. SEW IN ENDS


Using both ends of fur ball together, attach to lower hood brim where you overlapped corners. chain 2 and around brim in every space *2dc,DC* around ending in slip stitch in starting chain. fasten off and sew in ends.


ALL DONE


To increase size you can increase starting chain in multiples of 4 and increase length
